Chicago opened the scoring in the 44th minute when Maren Haile-Selassie finished a pass from Noah Allen, assisted by Jonathan Bamba. The goal gave the Fire a 1–0 lead at halftime.
However, Chicago suffered a major setback in first-half stoppage time when defender Jack Elliott received his second yellow card and was sent off, leaving the home side with 10 players.
Philadelphia exploited the numerical advantage after the break. Milan Iloski equalized in the 49th minute, and Bruno Damiani put Union ahead six minutes later, finishing a pass from Cavan Sullivan.
Damiani added his second goal of the night in the 67th minute, converting a pass from Jovan Lukić to extend Philadelphia’s lead to 3–1 and put the result beyond Chicago’s reach.
Despite Chicago holding 52 percent of possession, Philadelphia created more attacking opportunities. The Union recorded 19 shots, including eight on target, compared with Chicago’s eight shots and four on target.
The victory extended Philadelphia’s winning streak to eight matches and its unbeaten run to 14. Meanwhile, Chicago remained fourth in the Eastern Conference after the defeat.
